I don't hire women under 35 due to risk of pregnancy

We continued our exposé on the Sunday Times 25 Best Big Companies to Work for 2017. We caught up with Talent Director Finbar Saunders who had this to say;

“We are delighted to have been recognised in the Sunday Times Best Big Companies to work for 2017

The key to this accolade is diversity

Our 50/50 gender split and UK mirrored cultural demographic is nationally admired

The recent leak of our age statistics caused a slight stir but it can be easily explained

We made a stakeholder driven decision in 2015 not to hire any women under the age of 35. This gender age demographic was most likely to take extended periods of time off work or leave the business. This uncertainty, often caused due to likelihood of getting pregnant, caused our staff turnover to soar and our employee satisfaction to plummet

For this reason we opted for a Utilitarian approach to our recruitment (‘The Greater Good Theory’) and decided to not hire any women under the age of 35 in order for the majority of our company to prosper. Since implementing we have been recognised as a Best Big Company to work for 2 years consecutively”
